Captain’s Log Entry 3….just kidding! This is just a humble little update regarding my daughter’s illness. Plus a little about our day.
We started the day like any other, my husband cared for her when she woke up at 8 AM this morning. He ended up being able to put her back to sleep, allowing me a little more sleep as well. I got up around 10-10:30 AM, which is a pretty late start for me.
I hung out with our daughter who was in a pretty good mood. She took a tiny cat nap on me and then woke up again close to 12 PM. My husband and I decided to take her for a walk, get some fresh air and exercise. We walked for about an hour, in that time she fell asleep again. It’s wonderful my husband works from home, we can actually do things on his lunch break. Quality time for all of us.
However, like every time we go for a walk and come home, she immediately woke up. With a few rocks and sways holding her by my husband, she passed out again. He put her down for her nap and back to work he went. I, however, took FULL advantage of what little time I had to complete what I wanted to. Lunch, dishes, fold laundry, shower, wish my cousin a happy birthday, pump for breast milk, put an SD card into the camera, fiddle around with camera settings and my husband told me about a haunted asylum from his hometown that I just had to learn more about! I’ll possibly do a blog post about that, I like paranormal stuff and I really love medical history. It’s just fascinating.
Thankfully, I got all of that done and then some. No rest for the busy mom let me tell you. I did however bring out my new agenda for 2024, which I am thrilled about. I’m old school that way, what can I say!
Now on to the walk-in visit. We arrived as soon as the walk-in clinic opened and thankfully we got in immediately. There wasn’t anyone there it seemed. The doctor came in and he was very friendly. Asked the general questions; ‘What is going on? Has she been eating? Going to the bathroom normally? Does she have a fever?’ So on I went with answering the questions and explaining what has been going on. This nasty cough and my biggest concern being her lungs. My husband watched the doctor intently and was our daughter’s guardian the whole appointment. The doctor was sweet and gentle with her, checking her lungs carefully. He informed us that he did hear a bit of noise in her upper lungs but he didn’t feel like she needed urgent treatment. He informed us of signs to look out for and if she spikes a fever again to go to the children’s hospital immediately, but to just keep doing what we were doing. I feel much better knowing this cough is nothing more serious. But you can bet I will be like a hawk, keeping an eye on her.
What else, we went grocery shopping after for a few things. I’ll be making cheddar jalapeno bread and regular white bread tomorrow. I’ll share pictures when they are finished. And the rest of the evening was pretty boring and quiet, just how I like it. Hung out with my little one, relaxing now as I’m writing this post and initially listening to documentaries on Century Manor. Though I’ve switched to listening to some throwback tunes. Did I mention I watched Spice World last night? Now that is going back to my childhood. Great movie, still love it! Don’t judge, I was all about that Girl Power as a kid, every little girl was.
Though I am going to call it here for the night. I need to try to get my daughter to sleep, but I suspect she has other intentions…
Ciao!
