I normally wouldn’t bitch, but I can’t hold it in this time. I had this wonderful two part post about Century Manor, the “haunted” location in my husband’s hometown. I was working on the first portion when I paused late last night and went to bed. Unfortunately, we woke up to no Internet. So now, I can’t even post what I had and I’m writing this post on my phone.
We don’t pay for the internet in the house, my parents do, so normally I try to keep my trap shut. But my dad has this weird loyalty to our internet provider and everytime he calls to cancel and go elsewhere they always give him some incentive to stay. But I swear, it is getting worse and worse every year!
At the start it wasn’t bad, would only go out every so often, usually an outage on their end, then it became every couple months we would have it go out, restart the router and it was fine. After that, the frequency became every month, sometimes warranting a call to the company where they would provide bullshit customer support. However, now it’s every other week and this time it’s bad.
My mother called the company, since her and I both tried fixing it on our own with no success, only to have the woman on the other end of the phone make her do everything we had done…. once more. Than informed my mother there was nothing she could do and would have to send out a technician. My mother expected it to be the next day, NOPE! The woman told my mother they aren’t able to come until the 17th…..today is the 14th. My mom wasn’t pleased since my husband and her both work from home. She informed the woman of this, which didn’t seem to phase her. Not a care in the world and the call ended shortly there after.
Now, my husband has work and we have to scramble to figure out what to do. He also has a side project he needs to complete that isn’t for his day job.
The plan of action goes as such: we have to go to my nonna’s house (my brother lives with her, so he has internet hooked up) to have my husband work from there tomorrow, than he has to drive to his mom’s place after work (an hour and a half away) to start/complete his side project on Tuesday along with working his regular day job, drive home after work Tuesday evening than back to my nonna’s Wednesday again to work. At which point, the technician will be here Wednesday to fix the internet. What a fuckin mess!
All the while, carting baby girl back and forth, although we won’t be heading to my mother-in-law’s for the one day with my husband. I’ll stay home with baby girl and hopefully help grandma a little bit. Sigh, I’ll miss him and I know damn well baby girl won’t like him gone.
Sadly there is nothing we can do. But all internet providers SUCK! They have no care in the world, you are just money to them. And before you say “Well they are a business..blah blah blah”, I know! But at least provide your customers with decent services and great customer service. I would have fucked off and left a long time ago. None of them are good, but I know of others with better services then the internet going out every other week.
My apologies for all the cursing, I do curse like a sailor most days, but I try to not use too much profanity in the blog. I don’t do it for any particular reason, it’s just how I’ve been writing. But this….today…oooo it really got me heated. Please tell me I’m not the only one frustrated with shitty internet providers, am I?
Anyway, I need to unwind and finish off laundry. But if you have any suggestions on how to handle a terrible internet provider besides leaving them (which I TOTALLY would!) Let me know.
