Small Update on Salem

I was planning to post about my sourdough bread fail, but I’m going to save that for another day.

I thought I’d update you on my cat Salem instead. She is doing much better! My husband and I opted to not take her to the vet, but to do a little research and try some alternative methods/foods.

We went to the pet store and found this food specific for digestion (something the vet claimed was being worked on but not out yet…hmm weird…) and well we only bought a few cans to see how she would like it. Let’s just say she DEVOURS IT! We will definitely be going to pick up a case.

I’ve been monitoring her water intake which seems to be increasing since I got her one of those continuous flowing drinking fountains and huzzah! Her litter box was full of little….droppings. And today there was a big dropping. I don’t know what to call it, fecal matter? That sounds so medical….ugh…it’s droppings. We will all have to live with that now…you’re welcome!

I’ll continue to monitor her, but she is in MUCH better spirits, coming out for love and affection. She doesn’t stink and well she’s going to the bathroom. I’d say we had some success! Pft, sometimes I don’t know why I go to the vet…all I’m going to say about that.

Cats really do have nine lives though, don’t they?!

Ciao!!

  1. So happy Salem is doing better 🙂 🙂 🙂 That s such a blessing!!!! I wish I could remember the cat food we gave our elderly cat. He is my avatar and was 17 when he left us. It was the food that vets give them after surgeries and they said even if he gave it a few licks he would get ALL the nutrition he needed. I was certainly not the cheapest but we could buy it from the vet in a case and it lasted. It brought him back from the brink and gave us 3 more good, playful even kitten like years together. So happy you shared this 🙂

    1. Aww that’s so amazing and wow 17 years old! From your avatar he looks like quite the handsome cat, what was his name if you don’t mind me asking? I pray that Salem lives that long. I was buying the vet food, but it wasn’t for digestion it was more for weight management. I couldn’t just keep giving her kitty laxatives, so I needed to find a better solution. There are definitely good options from the vet, I’m just surprised they didn’t know about this digestive wet food. My daughter is intrigued by Salem, she laughs and smiles at her and tries to pet her all the time. I hope they can have a few years together ❤

  2. That Salem is eating and drinking is very good! Back when I rescued cats, that was one big thing to look out for in their health. Super cute kitty 😊🥰

      1. It was very fulfilling (and sometimes heartbreaking). That was during college, then I moved out of state and never got in touch with a good shelter locally 😕 I still remember a lot of those cats – they were each so full of personality 😊❤️
