Novice Seamstress

I’ve come to the conclusion that either my little one is growing at a crazy rate or the onesies fabric at the foot is just thin, or possibly both. She has popped her little big toe through three onesies now. So, instead of tossing the onesies, since they are still in good condition, I thought I’d attempt to sew them.

I’m not great at sewing to be honest; I get by with a quick stitch on stuff. If I recall, the stitches I know are the running stitch and the slip stitch. I attempted the slip stitch on the hole on the foot, so we shall see if it holds. Fingers crossed!

I may have to educate myself on more sewing stitches and techniques. You would think I’d know more since my Nonna (my mom’s mother) was a seamstress by trade back in Italy and she used to sew our clothing all the time growing up. But sadly no and I regret not sitting with her to learn when I was younger.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction or have suggestions, please comment below. I might check out Youtube to see what I can find on there.

By the way, it took me so much time to thread the needle! Like why must it be so difficult?!?! Breathes... Okay I’m fine. I just needed to get that out of my system. But you would think, even with my glasses on it would be a bit easier to thread the needle, but glasses or not, it was no dice.

Any who, I must dash, Valeria has been a McFussypants all night so I’m sure she will be up again soon. Seems another tooth might be coming in.

Have a wonderful day or night, wherever you are in the world!

Ciao!!

  1. Try tiny a little bit of beeswax on the tip of your thread before putting it through the needle. Makes it easier. 😊 Yes, I think you’re right. They’re making fabric thinner and thinner. How wonderful to have an Italian seamstress in the family. Such cool heritage!
