Captured Fairies – Crafting Edition

Another project down and this one took no time at all, honestly it may be the most expensive one so far though. As the title says, it’s my version of captured fairies and I think it turned out beautifully. Some minor hiccups along the way, but I just hope it isn’t too noticeable.

The display, the skeletons and the wings were the most expensive part, I believe totaling about $40 give or take. When you don’t have the Michael’s coupons it hurts! The display is actual glass though, so that’s where most of the money seemed to go. The rock is from the garden, the moss I had on hand, along with all the floral flourishes and the little stump was from the dollar store. I got a bag of those little wooden pieces for a few dollars.

It truly took no time to put together and glue everything down, it took me longer to decide rock and stump placement and to decide the position of the skeletons. I ended up gluing the hands together, since sadly the limbs didn’t move as freely as I wanted. I found that out the hard way when I broke the legs of the skeleton sitting on the stump. OUCH! But I glued them back together in a position I thought would be fitting. That’s the mistake I hope isn’t noticeable.

Spooky – Crafting Edition

Here is another of my weird and wild creations for Halloween this year. It’s become apparent that the shroud skulls and heads are very in this season and of course I found lots for purchase. However, I didn’t want to spend $40 on something I thought I could create for, well cheaper.

As you can see in the image below, some of my crafting supplies I picked up from Michael’s, but for this project I for the facial statue (or maybe it was meant to be a planter as the head was hollow) for 70% off and I believe the regular price was $25. The cheese cloth I used I already had on hand, the Hodge Podge I had to purchase, the foam ball I got from the dollar store, along with the white and gold paint and brushes.

Excuse my daughter in the corner, she was curious! Also I brought the tealights back, they were colour changing and just wasn’t going to work for my candle project.
Please don’t mine my eczema in the video…that’s a work in progress too!

I’m pretty thrilled with how this turned out all things considered. It may not be the completely creepy shrouded woman you see out there in the stores, but it’s eerie nonetheless! And NO it’s not perfect and I had to hand paint all the cloth once it was dried (multiple times), but I think it’s a piece I can honestly say is one of a kind! It will be a nice addition to my Halloween decorations!

Hope you enjoyed this post and it has inspired you to get creative! Until next time.

Ciao!

P.S. – This did end up being WAY cheaper than the store bought ones. Okay bye!

Never Too Early – Crafting Edition

I’m a fanatic when it comes to Halloween, anyone who knows me knows this fact. Also I love to craft. So with all the stores coming out with their Halloween collections (and yes I am one those girls who buys a Starbucks pumpkin spice in August when it comes out), it was no wonder I was feeling inspired!

I found this idea on Pinterest (of courae) but the added flourishes were of my own design.

A pool noodle, dollar store plate, hot glue, paint and some odd and ends florals I had laying around. That’s all it took! Deceiving right?!? I just need some Black tea light candles (the fake ones of course) to finish it off.

I have a few other projects on the go, but I’m very proud of this one! I’ll post those once they are completed.

Hope your inspired to craft yourself a few projects!

New Life Sprouting

After our walk this evening with Valeria, we decided to just enjoy a little time taking photos outside. We took some photos with my husband and her, and some with her and myself. I even got to snap a few photos of the life that’s sprouting around our yard. I can’t wait until there is a little more blooming to really get some nice shots, especially of our Maple tree.

Though I’ve decided to not do a vegetable garden this year. With what we have planned, we won’t have the time to properly tend to it and Valeria keeps us fairly busy as it is. Especially now that she is learning how to crawl.

Anyway, here are a few photos I took today:

Hope you are enjoying the weather wherever you are in the world!

Ciao!!!

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Guiding Light

Guiding Light by Daniela (Mama)

Life passes by
like the flick of the butt.
The smoke tendrils linger,
as the ash falls to dust.

My eyes gently close, lost in the memory…
As the smoke weaves through my senses easily.
I sip the coffee, hot in it’s cup
missing it’s silent, ember glowing counterpart.

Forbidden indulgence beckons,
With seductive whispers,
promising solace,
amidst tranquil solitude.

The strength to refrain,
is stronger then the hold.
That doesn’t stop the siren’s call.
But my lungs are scarred,
the decision made.
I no longer need that tantalizing haze.

In the embrace of my husband, I hear,
My daughter’s laughter, sweet and clear.
She’s the reason desire softly fades,
In her presence, my heart cascades.
No wants, no needs, just this familial bond.
A tired smile graces my lips,
As the memory softly slips.

I breathe in freedom,
pure and bright.
As I run to my daughter,
my guiding light.

Note: I quit smoking again for various reasons, but my daughter is the biggest reason why. I want to be in good health for her, she needs me around for a long time and I don’t plan on going anywhere any time soon. This time, I haven’t had one single craving since I quit.

Be kind and I hope you liked it.

Ciao!

Her Smile

From smiles to frowns
The moods change quick
She weeps and cries
I hug and sigh
Unable to soothe
Frustrations ensues
Inadequacy pursues
What do I do?
I hush and lull
Her cries increase
Defeated, I begin to weep
Frustration ensues
Inadequacy pursues
Am I a good mother?
Her brief smile soothes
