Fireworks & Fresh Starts: July Goals Incoming

Well it’s July 1st and time for a new set of gooooooals! Let’s get to it!

  • Work on my health – both physical and mental
  • Print some photos for the house and for relatives
  • Celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday
  • Clean the spare room and organize
  • Organize the basement
  • Learn the Cricut
  • Finish the novel I’ve been struggling with and get back on track with my reading challenge
  • Get more sleep
  • Organize and tidy Valeria’s closet
  • Visit family
  • Do some day trips with Valeria
  • Attending my Ultrasound appointment
  • See my doctor regarding test results
  • Clean my fridge
  • Set-up our dry erase calendar for July
  • Write up my book reviews for the month
  • Start a new puzzle

Not a bad list if I do say so myself, so hopefully I will be a little more successful in completing a large portion of my list. It’s probably going to be a busy July, just because we really want to get out and about with Valeria. So I will have to complete these in-between our activities this month.

I’m also hoping we can go to a farmers market at some point this month, but I’m not putting that on the list. It’s just a hopeful for me. Maybe I’ll look at different farmers markets we can possibly venture to. I’ll let ya know how that goes!

Anyway, I’m going to enjoy more of this sunshine now that Valeria is up from her nap and my husband is off today due to the holiday (Canada Day). If your off today I hope you are enjoying the incredible weather and spending time with friends and family.

For everyone else, I hope you have a wonderful day or night wherever you are in the world!!

Ciao!

June Recap: Sunshine, Setbacks & Small Wins

I can’t believe June is gone already, it makes me really sad to be honest because that means only two more months of summer. Queue crying face right now! However, let’s stop thinking about that and go over the goals that were set for June. Did I accomplish anything? Let’s seeeeeeee!

  • Work on my health – both physical and mental
  • Print some photos for the house and for relatives
  • Organize the basement
  • Get some herbs for the porch and an Aloe plant for the house
  • Get my nails done
  • Learn to use a Cricut
  • Write more
  • Create a new wreath for spring
  • Finish the two novels I’ve been struggling to finish and get back on track with my reading challenge
  • Make Father’s Day special
  • Celebrate all the birthdays we have this month
  • Get more sleep
  • Spend more time outside with Valeria
  • Go see my husband’s side of the family
  • Plan for my cousin to come visit

I’d say not too bad for the month of June and looking forward to July. Here is an extra photo to hopefully put a smile on your face, at least rainbows always make me smile.

To be fair, it was much brighter in person but my phone camera can never capture the beautiful true colours of nature.

Well that’s all for today, I hope you had a terrific June! And I hope you have a wonderful day or night wherever you are in the world!

Sunshine & Self-Growth: Wrapping Up My Spring Goals

Let’s take a look at my list of goals and recap!

  1. Work on my health – both physical and mental
    • Well the physical is something I’ve definitely been working on. I have been walking and getting at least 10,000 steps a day (usually more on a really good day), but I am making a conscious effort on that front. Mental…well it’s a work in progress.
  2. Follow-up with the doctors regarding my genetic testing results
    • Did this as well and the doctor finally got back to me. All tests came back normal with no abnormalities or genetic issues to be found. Also, went over pathology for the baby.
  3. Pick-up and put together Valeria’s new bed
    • Well we definitely picked up the bed and put it together, but I will give a further update in a separate post. But yup, this was completed!
  4. Buy a cute twin bed set for Valeria
    • Well, I did buy an adorable twin set for her bedroom, however I had to turn around and buy a full size bed set instead. That will come with the bed update.
  5. Decorate Valeria’s room
    • Completed this one as well! Her adorable stickers are on the wall and she is obsessed!
  6. Print some photos for the house and for relatives
    • Nope….I didn’t have the time, but it will still be on my to-do’s.
  7. Organize the basement
    • Nope, but I at least put my desk together and set up my desktop computer. Little steps!
  8. Continue to donate and get rid of items
    • Already started another pile, I will gladly be adding more to it over time this month as well.
  9. Get some herbs for the porch and an Aloe plant for the house
    • I would have loved to do this, but the weather has been too cold for us to even have potted plants outside. On hold for now, so hopefully the weather is actually heating up….fingers crossed!
  10. Learn to make “Starbucks” style cold brew coffee at home
    • Did this too….in my own kind of way! I bought a wonderful cold brew coffee maker off Amazon. 12 hours in the fridge and then I have cold brew coffee. See below! It’s wonderful if you like cold brew coffee. I’ll do a little post with my coffee recipe…nothing fancy to be fair.
  11. Go for two walks a day
    • This has been hit or miss with the cold and rain, but I did try to accomplish this whenever I could. Will be continuing this though, really helps.
  12. Start an at-home full body weight training routine
    • I have made a workout plan and try to do this at least 1-2 times a week, but I’ve been focusing more on walking and eating healthy.
  13. Get my nails done
    • Yes! I did this wonderful electric blue that just popped!
  14. Create a cleaning schedule
    • Yup, did this one too and even included laundry days in the mix.
  15. Learn to use a Cricut
    • Not yet, but I need to. Something I really have to look into further.
  16. Write more
    • Not as much as I would have liked, but still striving to write more each month.
  17. Create a new wreath for spring
    • Not yet, but it’s on my to-do still. I need to pick up some specific florals.
  18. Try some new recipes
    • Yes, but didn’t like any of them. I preferred when I made things up this month. Every recipe I tried just seemed to fall flat and was pretty disappointed.
Cold Brew Coffee Maker

So a few things will go on my June to-do’s, but that’s okay. Hopefully June will be a shorter list and with better weather!

I hope you have a wonderful day or night wherever you are in the world!

Fresh Goals in Bloom: A Spring Reset for May

Things have been a bit crazy the month of April due primarily to the move, however I was thinking about my goals for May recently and well….let’s get into it!

  1. Work on my health – both physical and mental
  2. Follow-up with the doctors regarding my genetic testing results
  3. Pick-up and put together Valeria’s new bed
  4. Buy a cute twin bed set for Valeria
  5. Decorate Valeria’s room
  6. Print some photos for the house and for relatives
  7. Organize the basement
  8. Continue to donate and get rid of items
  9. Get some herbs for the porch and an Aloe plant for the house
  10. Learn to make “Starbucks” style cold brew coffee at home
  11. Go for two walks a day
  12. Start an at-home full body weight training routine
  13. Get my nails done
  14. Create a cleaning schedule
  15. Learn to use a Cricut
  16. Write more
  17. Create a new wreath for spring
  18. Try some new recipes

This seems like a lengthy list I admit, but I’m feeling super ambitious this month. Though some of it I have begun already; specifically working on my physical health, and embracing the slow emerging good weather and going for two walks a day. Plus, it also gets Valeria out of the house and enjoying our mama/daughter time with our solo morning walk. I truly cherish that time.

So, wish me luck because I am determined to get through it all!!

Hope you guys have a wonderful day or night wherever you are in the world!

January Goals

I know this is coming late, since it’s already the 12th of January….okay seriously where does the time go?! But I want to make a few goals for the month of January and it won’t be anything crazy I swear!

  1. Midwife appointment on the 14th
  2. Get my blood work done for Serum testing for 15 week pregnancy (that’s a post that links to the ultrasound issue)
  3. Clean the fridge (inside and outside)
    • Also change the Arm & Hammer Fridge Fresh Baking Soda
  4. Look up some Crock Pot recipes
  5. Make some homemade sauce
  6. Vacuum all over
  7. Do a thorough cleaning of the bathroom
  8. Go through all of Valeria’s clothing – Sort, organize and get rid of some
  9. Update my Agenda with daily/week/monthly tasks
  10. Set my yearly reading goal in Goodreads
    • Finish the novel I started

I think that’s it for now and I will give you an end of month update, and fingers crossed I get it all completed!

Hopefully you have a wonderful month and if you have any goals, I hope you complete them as well!

October Goals

Well it’s Monday and it’s time to write, and this is a little past due, so let’s jump into it.

  • VALERIA’S FIRST BIRTHDAY!!
  • Take Valeria’s 12 month photos
  • 1 year check-up with the doctor
  • Update Valeria’s baby book
  • Go through and print some photos for picture frames
  • Get a birthday gift for my sister-in-law
  • Buy everything for Thanksgiving and cook
  • Order Halloween costumes
  • Decorate for Halloween
  • Watch all the spooky, scary Halloween movies
  • Clean; living room, hallway, bathroom, bedroom, dining room chairs
  • Continue at least two walks a day
  • Get blood work done
  • Tidy up my desk
  • Pack things we aren’t using in a tote bin
  • Order tea light candles
  • Sort out my important paperwork and file them
  • Visit my cousin
  • Book review
  • Catch up on blogs

So I have to admit, a few of these are already accomplished, but everything is always a work in progress right? It should be a great month, lots of celebration around Valeria and my sister-in-law, who is turning 40.

Plus a bonus of Halloween, which we will be celebrating in Hamilton this year with my husband’s family. It will be an incredible time and I have a feeling Valeria will love it and because she can’t eat the candy yet, my husband has kindly offered to take it off her hands! Good thing she doesn’t understand the concept of Trick or Treating yet.

All in all, this month will be just as busy as the last, so I will keep you posted!

Have a wonderful day or night wherever you are in the world.

Ciao!

September Recap

I know I usually do this on the first or second of each month, but things have been a little bit hectic and so here is the recap for September.

Here was my list:

  • Clean
  • Continue at least two walks a day
  • Continue counting calories
  • Increase my water intake to two 40 oz tumblers a day, at least
  • Get blood work done
  • Tidy up my desk
  • Pack things we aren’t using in a tote bin
  • Order tea light candles
  • Clean up the living room
  • Finish up a few art projects
  • Blog about: my family reunion, Anthony’s Dad’s visit, the wedding, house sitting, our visit to my cousin’s cottage
  • August book review
  • Order Anthony’s Birthday gift and plan out his birthday
  • Begin planning for Valeria’s birthday in October
  • Start my next novel
  • House sit for Anthony’s sister and her husband

Well 6 out of 16 isn’t too bad to be fair, it could have been much worse! But I’m going to re-arrange a few things and start my list from scratch, including a few necessary self-care items.

The few fall craft projects I had to do were completed and a great success, especially my cousin’s wreath I had made for her and a hodge podge cyclops mummy head. Still need to order those candles which will be done today.

Anthony’s family events were great and house sitting was a nice glimpse into what it would be like when we have our own home. His birthday was also a success, having ended up with two little birthday celebrations.

Valeria’s birthday is all set in motion, I’ve gotten all the decorations (minus the balloons), cake is ordered and since it falls on Canadian Thanksgiving, she will be enjoying her first ever turkey feast cooked by mommy. It should be a great time and pictures to come!

The Perfect Neighbours book review is out, if you haven’t read it please take a peek and I started a new novel, however I’m struggling a bit with the writing style, so I’m debating starting a new book and shelving this one for the time being. I’ll let ya know.

Otherwise, September was a busy month for us and October doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon. Will keep you posted.

Ciao!

September Goals

Let’s see what we got on the agenda for September:

  • Clean
  • Continue at least two walks a day
  • Continue counting calories
  • Increase my water intake to two 40 oz tumblers a day, at least
  • Get blood work done
  • Tidy up my desk
  • Pack things we aren’t using in a tote bin
  • Order tea light candles
  • Clean up the living room
  • Finish up a few art projects
  • Blog about: my family reunion, Anthony’s Dad’s visit, the wedding, house sitting, our visit to my cousin’s cottage
  • August book review
  • Order Anthony’s Birthday gift and plan out his birthday
  • Begin planning for Valeria’s birthday in October
  • Start my next novel
  • House sit for Anthony’s sister and her husband

A much shorter list than the last one and thank goodness for that! Another month when we won’t be home much at all, but it’s out of our control. I just know, some of these things have to get completed when we get back home on the 4th of September.

We are in my husband’s hometown until the 4th, but not for long. Because we are going to spend the night at my cousin’s cottage on the 7th and than coming back home on the 8th. Only to leave again to my husband’s sister’s house on September 11th until the 22nd. But we may have to stay an extra few days with his mom, but we shall see. That all depends on her.

Chants quietly to herself “Personal space, personal space.”

I really can’t wait until we are permanently back home and in our regular routine so I can recharge.

But I’m going to call it a night as my husband is sick; I’m on mom and sick daddy duty. And well Valeria doesn’t care what time I go to bed, just that mommy and daddy wake up with her at the butt-crack of dawn. So I shall bid you goodnight everyone!

Ciao!

August Recap

This August has been a hectic one and to be honest, I don’t even know where the month went! It flew by in a flash and I can’t say I feel like I accomplished a lot this month. Between family visits, a family reunion, wedding and everything in between. So let’s recap the list, shall we?

  • Clean – Nope! I tidied up…does that count?
  • Sell some things we don’t need – household items – Not a chance, but this one will be coming off my list for next month
  • Continue at least two walks a day – I’ve been slacking…mama needs to get moving again because it actually made me feel great when I did
  • Continue counting calories – Sigh, fell off the band wagon on this, should really jump back on
  • Increase my water intake to two 40 oz tumblers a day, at least – I’m getting back to it, slowly but surely!
  • Clean out the wagon and water/sand put plastic turtle my brother gave us – Well it’s the end of summer now, so this one will be off my next list
  • Review a new Anime show I’ve been watching and loving! – Completed! Wooo my first completion and I hope I inspired someone to watch it. It’s just so good!
  • Get shoes for the wedding for my husband and myself – Completed, though as much as I loved the shoes I got, they killed my feet. I forgot how much heels hurt, especially when I haven’t worn any for nearly two years. Eek!
  • Wash Valeria’s dress for the wedding – Completed. Hand washed and everything! She was so adorable in it! She wore it only for a short time though.
  • Get blood work done – Um…no but I really need to do this one when I’m back home
  • Tidy up my desk – Didn’t have a chance, but man I need to.
  • Tidy up the cabinets in the bathroom – Completed! This was oddly satisfying to do and extremely necessary. They were an utter disaster!
  • Pack things we aren’t using in a tote bin – Started, but not completed.
  • Clean up the Laundry room – Completed. The amount of stuff I got rid of for my parents down there….oh man!
  • Order tea light candles – Holding off on this as we weren’t home much this month.
  • Clean up the living room – I tidied…but I wouldn’t say this is completed by any means.
  • Go through summer clothing and begin packing some things away – Completed. I went through my dresser and packed a bunch away. Can’t wait to get my fall clothing out.
  • Go through Valeria’s clothing (She is growing like crazy!) – Completed. I went on a frenzy with this one! My husband even asked if he could help.
  • Finish up a few art projects – Nope, again it’s due to not being home long enough to do anything. *Sad Face*

Well not to shabby to be honest. I could have been much worse, so I’m pretty proud of everything I actually accomplished here.

But like I said before, it was wonderful spending lots of time with family on both sides (but I have to admit, I miss my personal space. I like to recharge my batteries during my “alone” time. Introvert through and through!) And the wedding was amazing, until my baby girl wasn’t well. But I will have to blog about all that in the next week or two.

Oh I started Duolingo….again. I’m going to give it a real shot and try to learn Romanian. Wish me luck!

Oh and did I mention we were house sitting? Yup, we will be house sitting for most of September, which will be good and it will give us a little taste of living in “our own” space. Well so to speak, but you catch my drift.

Also, thankfully Valeria is doing much better and has gotten over whatever illness she seemed to have. However, my husband has now come down with the same thing. So please pray for me that I don’t catch it. I’m now taking care of my husband and nursing him back to health, but it seems to be a head cold, so hopefully in a few days it will be gone.

Anyway, that’s pretty much it!

Hope you all had a wonderful August wherever you are in the world!

Ciao!!
