Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

Guiding Light by Daniela (Mama)

Life passes by
like the flick of the butt.
The smoke tendrils linger,
as the ash falls to dust.

My eyes gently close, lost in the memory…
As the smoke weaves through my senses easily.
I sip the coffee, hot in it’s cup
missing it’s silent, ember glowing counterpart.

Forbidden indulgence beckons,
With seductive whispers,
promising solace,
amidst tranquil solitude.

The strength to refrain,
is stronger then the hold.
That doesn’t stop the siren’s call.
But my lungs are scarred,
the decision made.
I no longer need that tantalizing haze.

In the embrace of my husband, I hear,
My daughter’s laughter, sweet and clear.
She’s the reason desire softly fades,
In her presence, my heart cascades.
No wants, no needs, just this familial bond.
A tired smile graces my lips,
As the memory softly slips.

I breathe in freedom,
pure and bright.
As I run to my daughter,
my guiding light.

Note: I quit smoking again for various reasons, but my daughter is the biggest reason why. I want to be in good health for her, she needs me around for a long time and I don’t plan on going anywhere any time soon. This time, I haven’t had one single craving since I quit.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Controversial

What book could you read over and over again?

I’m a little late to the party with this prompt, but bare with me.

I’ve always been intrigued with novels that have controversy attached and this one is no exception. I was introduced to this series by someone who is no longer a friend unfortunately. We drifted apart many years ago, though I often think about them when I read this one. Her and I were two peas in a pod, our novel preferences were no exception.

Tarnsman of Gor by John Norman is one of my favourite books and extremely controversial. It’s set on a counter-earth known as Gor and the society is based on a caste system. The novels are criticized for their focus on dominant men and submissive women relationships, often the women are in positions of slavery, but not all women. It’s a Sci-Fi fantasy with BDSM laced into the story. It is intriguing and creative, but if you intend to read it, makes sure you read it with an open mind. It is definitely not for everyone.

I’ve read this at least 4 times since I was 20, it’s not all that fantastic when compared to other Sci-Fi novels, but it captures my attention every time.

That’s it, that’s all. Pretty boring stuff.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Best and Worst?

What animals make the best/worst pets?

This seems subjective doesn’t it? What I would deem as the best or worst pet would be different then the next person. And whose to say that someone doesn’t like more exotic pets like lizards, ferrets, spiders (EW!), etc.

I’m not going to lie, I’m a basic bish when it comes to pets; dogs, cats, fish, maybe a rabbit, bird, guinea pig or hamster.

But I say to each their own, as long as the pet you have is loved and cared for, does it really matter which is the best or worst?

What job would you do for free?

This will be no surprise to my current readers, but I would work for free in a bear sanctuary. I’d do whatever they needed to help those beautiful creatures. Oh man would that bring me so much joy!

That would probably be the only job I would do absolutely for free. Who wouldn’t want to spend time with adorable animals?

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Let’s Get Physical!

What’s the most fun way to exercise?

Hums ‘Let’s Get Physical’ by Olivia Newton-John

This question is subjective to each person don’t you think? I mean what I enjoy may not be the preference of my readers.

Now granted, I enjoy a multitude of exercises and it’s really dependent on the time of year.

Summer: I enjoy walking and hiking, being completely engulfed in nature and the sunshine. I have to take advantage of nice weather while we have it, I am in Canada after all. Gym only on rainy days.

Fall: I love the crisp morning walks and this is the time I start to get back in the gym on a more regular basis. I enjoy weight lifting when I go to the gym personally.

Winter: I attempted walks in the winter but honestly, it was hell. Far too cold and too much snow/ice to be walking in. This is when my exercise becomes a strictly indoor activities. Weight lifting and Elliptical are at it’s strongest.

Spring: I’m a bit lazy in the spring, but I’m still in the gym. I take walks when I can, but the weather isn’t consistent.

I’ve never been one for group classes (I usually hide in the back and am not coordinated at all!). I’m not a yoga girl either though I do appreciate the calmness it seems to bring those who practice it. I am not a runner, never have been. And I used to enjoy sports, basketball, softball and volleyball specifically, but these days it’s just for fun with my nephews.

See I’m boring, it’s all walking, weight lifting, and hiking. I just make them fun either being with someone else (usually my husband) or if I’m in the gym I sometimes throw headphones in and listen to music or true crime pod casts.

What do you enjoy? I’d love to know!

Bonus – WordPress Prompts – Not Interested in the Olympics

What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

As much as I want to claim I’m an avid watcher of the Olympics every time it rolls around, I really just don’t. It doesn’t interest me in the slightest.

I admire all the athletes for the hard work and dedication it takes to get to that level of competition, but I just can’t sit down and watch the events.

I feel terrible because my husband’s grandfather was an Olympic athlete, receiving a Silver medal in the 1968 Olympics for Wrestling. Which is incredibly impressive.

You would think I’d have more of an interest, but sadly I don’t. I’m more interested in watching UEFA Euro Cup this summer. We have to support Italia and Romania, but let’s be honest I’m rooting for Italy all the way.

If you could have something named after you, what would it be?

This is going to sound insane but…

A bear or some crazy cute, weird new found aquatic sea creature from the deepest depths of the ocean. Those are the only two things that I would want named after me. But the bear would win out every time I won’t lie.

Imagine, this big fluffy, clumsy cub falling out of a tree named Daniela. It’s perfection, don’t you think?!

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

*Hums The Pussycat Dolls’ song..*

Who really remembers this? I mean when I was five I’m pretty sure I wanted to marry a Disney prince, live in a castle and sing to all the little woodland animals while I coloured.

But seriously, I guess if you asked my mother it was to be a singer. I was singing all the time as a little girl and in front of whoever/wherever I wanted.

Can’t get me to do that now! Too shy for all that.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Good Morning!

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

Well that depends on the day, but typically in the first hour of my day, it looks a bit like this:

  1. Get out of bed and tie up my hair
  2. Bathroom
  3. Run to turn on the coffee maker
  4. Feed the animals and let the dog outside
  5. Brush my teeth
  6. Wash my face and put on anti-wrinkle cream
  7. Lotion on my hands/arms
  8. Change into comfy clothing – generally sweat pants/leggings and a tank top/sweater
  9. Check to see if my daughter is awake – usually she just lays in her crib quietly until she sees me or my husband
  10. Change her diaper and throw the old one away

That’s a basic day generally, but it varies from day to day. My daughter can be unpredictable at times for when she wakes up and if she wakes up fussy, well that’s a whole different ball game!

Mom life, am I right?!

Bonus – WordPress Prompts – Is It A Skill?

What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?

Is reading people a skill?

Cause if so than I would say that’s a secret skill of mine. I’m usually right about my feelings regarding people 95% of the time, the other 5% surprise me.

My husband always laughs when I tell him my feelings on people we meet for the first time. He always comes to me for my opinion, but I don’t know how to explain it. It’s like I can feel their energy, their personality, just everything about them. I instantly know if I’m going to like you or not, hence why I don’t open up to people right away. I’m guarded for many good reasons.

But yeah, if this is actually a skill, than I claim this one!
