Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Challenge Accepted!

Let me grab Yoshi and take my magic mushroom and get this challenge goin! Yes, my nerd has just come out, but this is a question I’m going to have a little fun with because the answer is frustratingly serious.

My biggest challenge in the next six months is going to be tackling the task of losing weight while being a busy mom. I have things set up and trying to get my ducks in a row with my health, but with that I need to manage a busy and unpredictable schedule at the moment with a currently four month old.

It’s doable and I know I can accomplish what I set my mind to, it’s the time that’s frustrating!

Ugh time, so lame!!

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Mirrored Basement!

Something people don’t really know about me is that I loooooove DIY and interior decorating. To make something or re-create a space to make it beautiful again.

My parents have lived in my childhood home for 33 years, pretty much my entire life, which is crazy to think about. And over the years it has gone through many renovations and re-decorations. As I got older, I started to help my mom and eventually she gave me free range to re-decorate rooms. She also taught me that I don’t need to rely on a man to do things around the house, so she taught me how to do a lot!

One of the biggest undertakings was the basement family room. If I remember right, the house was built in the 70’s and the small bar area with mirrors on the walls was a big thing. Hideous is more like it! Then again I hate mirrors….long story for another time.

My brothers always had the basement space and NEVER wanted to change it. However when I was able to take over and live in the basement in my early 20’s, you bet your butt I overhauled that living space! I smashed all those mirrors off the wall, re-painted the walls to a light blue and even painted the orange brick a nice chocolate brown, which surrounded the fireplace/most of the one wall. Years later when I moved back home from Alberta, I re-painted the walls to a nice light beige and lightened up the brick with dry brushing (which took FOREVER), but well worth it! I wish I had pictures of the before and after.

It was the biggest and most intensive DIY that I did myself. The other would be the dining room. Those are two major projects I am super proud of!

The Dinning Room!

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Wishing I could Ban…

There is one word that I have always hated and it’s for a number of reasons. I know this may be a controversial one, especially because in the U.K. it’s often used. I apologize for writing it now, but I wish I could ban the word Cunt, I HATE IT. I’m sorry, but it sounds so offensive, I’ve been called it too many times by rude ass men and it just feels so….degrading.

I don’t know how it started or whatever and frankly don’t care to know, but that would be the word I would ban. I also feel like this post may get some backlash. Was that WordPress’ plan? Hmmm….naughty WordPress Prompts!

I try to stay away from the controversial ones, but I couldn’t resist putting my two cents on this one.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Fav Peeps?

Though I have many favourite people to be around, the main one and probably the cliché answer would be my husband.

He is my best friend and though there are times he can be infuriating as I’m sure he’d say the same about me, I love him to Pluto and back! I am and always have been, able to be my true authentic self, with no judgment or wanting me to change. He has always loved me unconditionally and embraces the fact I’m a bit of a weirdo! We can talk about everything and anything and we have created the greatest gift we will both ever receive, our daughter. There will always be a part of him on this earth.

He is my rock, my protector and everything in-between.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – How Can You Choose Just One?!

Now, I found this to be an interesting question and frankly not specific enough. I’m sure like most people you go through moods, phases, and different situations call for different drinks. Hard liquor, Wines, Beer, Cider, Water, Tea, Coffee (So many types I won’t even list them), etc. How do you choose just one?

So here is my break down and bare with me:

Everyday: I need coffee, it’s a requirement. If I could have an IV drip of coffee I would! I’m a coffee addict I admit. Plus it helps on those nights of insomnia or sleepless nights with the baby. The second is Water. Boring I know, but I genuinely enjoy water, plus if I get bored I usually add lemon or something for flavour.

Backyard hangouts/Campfire: I like hard ciders if I’m drinking alcohol because I don’t need to drink very many to say, “Okay, I’m done” and stop drinking, which is only 2 maybe 3. If it’s non alcoholic, then water or iced teas, mmmm delicious! I started making my own homemade iced teas last summer and I won’t go back to the store bought stuff again.

Family gathers/parties: Now clearly if I’m in the mood to drink, Wine with dinner, I am Italian after all! If I don’t drink any wine (or there is none haha too funny, that never happens), I will have an Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour (usually have these when I’m with my husband’s family since my sister-in-law’s fiance used to be a bartender). In which case I will have max two and call it quits for the night. Otherwise, if it’s non-alcoholic drink: water or maybe a pop (or soda, if that’s what you call it in your country). Again, pop I’ll have a glass and call it quits.

Weddings: You’re probably thinking, ‘Huh? Didn’t we cover this?’, well no we didn’t. Weddings are different then family gatherings. At weddings, I will have a glass of wine with dinner generally, then wait a bit and have Vodka Cranberries for the remainder of the evening. Why? Because they usually water it down with ice, it’s not too sweet, it doesn’t bloat your belly or make you feel sick. Well unless you drink to excess, which I don’t. Water in-between and you’re golden. No hangover the next day as well.

Sickness: When I’m sick or feeling unwell in any way, especially with my tummy, it will always be Ginger Ale. NO, NOT SPRITE OR SCHWEPPES! It has to be Ginger Ale. Woo, sorry I got heated for a moment, it’s just a thing for me. Schweppes does not taste the same and sprite is too sweet and fake lemony flavour. It stems from childhood, we always got Ginger Ale when we were unwell, that and watching daytime television. Prices Right with Bob Barker, oh yay baby! Also, I really love herbal tea: Chamomile or Green tea with ginger and lemon.

I think I’ve covered all my major scenarios at least. Just know coffee is an always for me, any time, any where. Water is a must as well, though been slacking as of late. I’m not a big drinker, so I know my limit on alcoholic beverages are tops 4 in a night. I’m boring I know, but I’m in my 30’s with a baby, I don’t need to be drunk and hung over. That’s what my early 20’s was for.

I hope you enjoyed my plethora of drink choices. Would love to hear yours!

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Laws Broken?

I mean to be honest, who hasn’t broken a law? Whether on purpose or on accident, that’s really something personal.

But this question is also a little incriminating, don’t you think? I am not going to willing admit I broke a law….I’ve already said too much!

I’m ridiculous, have a wonderful day!

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Teen Angst

What an interesting question, and one I’ve thought about in my early 20’s. My teenage years were hard, for many different reasons: I was bullied, I gained and lost friends, I was bored in classes (I now realize I wasn’t challenged enough), I was depressed/high anxiety, I went to a Catholic School with uniforms which was full of rich snobby kids, my brother was popular and good looking (the popular girls would constantly remind me of that when they’d come up to me asking if I could introduce them…uh no) and like most teenagers I was trying to figure out who I was through my mess of hormonal emotions.

I think if I could give my teenage self advice, this is what it’d be:

High school doesn’t matter and most of these people you see each and every day won’t be a part of your life after you graduate. Friendships will fade and you will make new ones in your adult life, which will help you learn and blossom from different situations. Learn to not care what people think of you because you are beautiful and smart, and one day there will be a wonderful man who loves you for exactly who you are and what you look like. Happiness isn’t in the here and now, but it will come to you in time. And it’s okay to be a weirdo, that is what makes you unique and special; so enjoy girl metal, paranormal crap, video games, anime, pink hair and dressing in black. It’s okay to be a bit of a goth princess, own it! And don’t pick up smoking….worst decision you’ll ever make.

Life as a teenager seemed so, permanent at that moment, like life wasn’t going to get better. I wasn’t popular, but I was okay with that. Eventually I found the friends that mattered at the time and it worked, we got through that crazy time together. But you never anticipate what comes after, and I will say that things weren’t perfect in my 20’s. However, I learned a lot of valuable life lessons, but if I’m being honest, I am really loving my 30’s.

And to me, my 30’s is where my happiness and life truly began.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Different Time

I’m currently 34 years old and at my age both my parents were working, my mom had all three of her children (I’m the youngest), they had been married for over 10 years and owned their own cars and home.

How times have changed!

I had my first kid at 33 years old, stay at home mom now (had been working previously), my husband and I both have our own cars and we can’t currently afford a home due to the housing market.

Anyone else wish we could go back in time a little?

My parents’ lives don’t seem so bad during my age to be honest.

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Excited Introvert

I’d smile really big, scream internally and then rush to tell my husband and family the news.

I am not an outwardly excitable person and I really hate being the centre of attention these days, so exciting new to me should be shared with my loved ones in a more private manner. Now, will I probably jump up and down for joy in front of my loved ones, probably! But I’m not sure I know anyone who wouldn’t with their family or friends.

Here is an example: when I told my family I was pregnant, I literally found a sweatshirt that they had to read the fine print to find out I was having a baby. See what I mean?

I would love to hear how you announced you were pregnant to your family and friends. What was your big reveal?

Now if I could just win the lottery….that would be some good news! Wish me luck! 😉

Bonus – WordPress Prompt – Lost Music

I came across this question and immediately thought about singing. When I was a kid, I used to love to sing and I was always told I had a beautiful voice. My mom even has a notorious story of me; at the age of 5, grabbing the microphone at a bridal shower and singing ‘A Whole New World‘ from Aladdin.

I used to join school choir, plays and frankly anything that would allow me the chance to sing. Unfortunately, as I grew into my teens, I lost touch with music and singing. I became more of an introvert in my teens, so singing in front of people gave me anxiety.

Since then, I hadn’t really sung except in the shower and car. I was, however, roped into participating in Karaoke with my husband’s family last year. I was extremely uncomfortable and my anxiety high. But I did sing a song.

I have no intention of reliving public performances any time soon. I’ll keep to the car, shower and now singing to my daughter. I am curious to see if my daughter will have musical talent, I hope so!

What is an activity or hobby you’ve outgrown or lost interest in?
