New Favourite Phrase

Life as a parent is never a dull moment and Valeria is like a sponge right now, she just wants to learn everything. She has been picking up words here and there, and she mimics us all the time when we say something, so we really have to be careful what we say around her now.

But Valeria’s new favourite new word is Uh-oh. She throws something, drops something, hears something fall, pulls mama and daddy’s hair, splashes water, etc….it is followed by an adorable UH-OH!

It makes us laugh every time she does it, and sometimes she does it at the wrong instance. We laugh and try to correct her, but she just laughs and runs away to play. She’ll get it eventually, but it’s hilarious to watch her right now.

But she is doing really well with her words and her word count seems to be going up every week. People are pretty astonished when they find out she is only like 14 months. She is pretty advanced according to the doctor, which is amazing.

We are so proud to watch her develop and grow every day, such a proud mama!

Hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are in the world!

Ciao!

She Rolled!

Yesterday morning, my husband was checking on he baby in her bassinet. She had woken up from a long nights sleep, happy as a clam which was a good sign. He went to grab a bottle from the fridge and when he came back to her, she threw her hips and rolled! He was so excited, he came into the bedroom with her and told me with enthusiasm. They were sleeping in the living room the night before, for context.

I, however, was thrilled and sad all at once. I had missed a huge milestone, her first roll and I missed it. Even though I was super excited for her, she taught herself something new and you could see her smiling so brightly from the experience, I felt down.

Silly…I know! There are going to be so many milestones and experiences, that you may miss one or even a few. But I’ve felt sensitive since I stopped breastfeeding, so missing moments like these makes me feel disconnected.

For the rest of the day, Valeria kept rocking herself back and forth and she even rolled herself again! Which I missed because I turned to grab a diaper….Damn diapers! But she was so excited all day that she didn’t want nap. Give and take as a new parent I guess.

I feel like she is rapidly growing and developing, faster then I even anticipated. But she is like a little sponge and so independent, it’s remarkable. She is even trying to self-soothe.

My husband and I have started to help her rock back and forth, which she laughs and thinks it’s a game. From belly to back and back to belly. It also allows her some tummy time in between, which she is holding up her head with no problems now.

I guess the next step is sitting! How time flies with these little ones.
