Sunshine & Self-Growth: Wrapping Up My Spring Goals

Let’s take a look at my list of goals and recap!

  1. Work on my health – both physical and mental
    • Well the physical is something I’ve definitely been working on. I have been walking and getting at least 10,000 steps a day (usually more on a really good day), but I am making a conscious effort on that front. Mental…well it’s a work in progress.
  2. Follow-up with the doctors regarding my genetic testing results
    • Did this as well and the doctor finally got back to me. All tests came back normal with no abnormalities or genetic issues to be found. Also, went over pathology for the baby.
  3. Pick-up and put together Valeria’s new bed
    • Well we definitely picked up the bed and put it together, but I will give a further update in a separate post. But yup, this was completed!
  4. Buy a cute twin bed set for Valeria
    • Well, I did buy an adorable twin set for her bedroom, however I had to turn around and buy a full size bed set instead. That will come with the bed update.
  5. Decorate Valeria’s room
    • Completed this one as well! Her adorable stickers are on the wall and she is obsessed!
  6. Print some photos for the house and for relatives
    • Nope….I didn’t have the time, but it will still be on my to-do’s.
  7. Organize the basement
    • Nope, but I at least put my desk together and set up my desktop computer. Little steps!
  8. Continue to donate and get rid of items
    • Already started another pile, I will gladly be adding more to it over time this month as well.
  9. Get some herbs for the porch and an Aloe plant for the house
    • I would have loved to do this, but the weather has been too cold for us to even have potted plants outside. On hold for now, so hopefully the weather is actually heating up….fingers crossed!
  10. Learn to make “Starbucks” style cold brew coffee at home
    • Did this too….in my own kind of way! I bought a wonderful cold brew coffee maker off Amazon. 12 hours in the fridge and then I have cold brew coffee. See below! It’s wonderful if you like cold brew coffee. I’ll do a little post with my coffee recipe…nothing fancy to be fair.
  11. Go for two walks a day
    • This has been hit or miss with the cold and rain, but I did try to accomplish this whenever I could. Will be continuing this though, really helps.
  12. Start an at-home full body weight training routine
    • I have made a workout plan and try to do this at least 1-2 times a week, but I’ve been focusing more on walking and eating healthy.
  13. Get my nails done
    • Yes! I did this wonderful electric blue that just popped!
  14. Create a cleaning schedule
    • Yup, did this one too and even included laundry days in the mix.
  15. Learn to use a Cricut
    • Not yet, but I need to. Something I really have to look into further.
  16. Write more
    • Not as much as I would have liked, but still striving to write more each month.
  17. Create a new wreath for spring
    • Not yet, but it’s on my to-do still. I need to pick up some specific florals.
  18. Try some new recipes
    • Yes, but didn’t like any of them. I preferred when I made things up this month. Every recipe I tried just seemed to fall flat and was pretty disappointed.
Cold Brew Coffee Maker

So a few things will go on my June to-do’s, but that’s okay. Hopefully June will be a shorter list and with better weather!

I hope you have a wonderful day or night wherever you are in the world!

Ciao!!

Two Teeth

If you are a regular to my blog, you are well aware that my daughter has been teething for quite some time now. At six months, going on seven, her two bottom teeth have FINALLY emerged! Not sure if that’s late or early, really didn’t look to see.

At first, my husband and I only noticed the bottom left tooth poking out of the gum. We noticed because she had wanted to gnaw on my knuckle and I felt the sharp enamel poking at my skin. Once we checked her mouth, we were absolutely thrilled! We noticed it probably on Wednesday and then SURPRISE, the right side popped out this weekend. I feel like now that we have two coming in, the rest are sure to spring out like crazy!

I’ve tried getting a picture of them, however she just shakes her head like a dog, not wanting us to be near her mouth. For good reason, but oooooo they are so adorable!!! If I can capture her little teeth in a photo when they are fully emerged I’ll post it you.

Still got a whole mouth to go; so the whimpers, crying and tears of pain aren’t over yet, but we are here to soothe and comfort her. Guess I have to start “brushing” her little teeth now…..I think I have one those finger brushes somewhere…

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got today! Hope you had a wonderful weekend wherever you are in the world!

I’ve gone white!

Valeria caused me to go white! Just kidding!!

Back at the end of January I started, the very lengthy, process of changing my hair. I went from a dark brown to black with blonde underneath and at the front. Obviously not achieving the white like I had initially desired. However, my hair dresser and I discussed it may take a few tries.

With the amount of bleach used the first time I had to wait 6-8 weeks for the next appointment. We both agreed that it wasn’t a good idea to do any more damage to my hair any sooner then that.

Two weeks ago, I booked today’s appointment, not holding my breath to get the white and mainly my roots were horrendous! Having naturally dark hair, well let’s just say, the roots don’t always look great showing with the blonde. Not for me anyways. But after a few hours at the salon, thinning out my hair (I have thick heavy hair, and when it’s too much I start to get headaches. All my ladies with thick hair can understand this dilemma), blow dry and curl later and I was ecstatic! I received so many compliments from other clients and even the owner, who is a friend of mine. Absolutely love it and it makes me feel like a Gothic princess.

When my husband picked me up from the appointment, his reaction was both funny and impressed. “Damn, baby you are look maxing!” I laughed, I really couldn’t help it, but I felt even better then I already did after his admiration.

We spent the rest of the day with Valeria, which she didn’t quite recognize me at first. Though, to be fair, when she first saw me it was after a nap and she was barely awake. She recognized my voice and she stopped crying.

It’s been a pretty quiet Saturday otherwise and honestly, both my husband and I really needed it; to just veg out on the couch/bed and just be with our daughter. Who by the way has had some wicked naps today, a total of 5 hours in nap time! Victory!!!

We are getting all her energy out now with some play time, which we started doing since this morning. Trying a different method since we think that she just had too much energy and that’s why she didn’t want to nap for longer periods of time. Along with the fact she is very attached to us right now. It seems to be working, but we will see how long that lasts! Kids’ preferences are ever changing, what works one week may not work the next. Wish us luck!

I’m going to end it here and I hope you all had a wonderful day wherever you are in the world!

Ciao!!
