Big Experiences

Today was another relaxing day, partly because we needed it, partly because Daylight Savings Time is kicking our butts and because the snow just wants to hold on for just a little longer. We are having a pretty gross little snow storm today. My husband and I are a bit exhausted as well, we think the daylight savings time messed up Valeria’s sleep a little bit.

Valeria had some big experiences today, which she seemed a bit surprised and curious with both. The first being that she got to video chat with my husband’s father (or Tati as we call him). It was incredible, he was so sweet with her and kept trying to make her laugh. She even gave him a few smiles and he joked he looked like Santa Claus. It was the first time I got to video chat with him as well and it was wonderful. We got along so well, chatting and laughing as Valeria was standing on my husband’s thighs. He would speak Romanian and English which was helpful, I’m trying to learn Romanian little by little but it’s hard. He was kind enough to speak English for me and my husband would translate if needed, which wasn’t that much. He’s such a sweet man and really can’t wait to spend time with him in August. I’m going to try to make video chatting with him a regular occurrence so Valeria and my husband can see and talk with him.

The second experience she had today was that we decided to give her a little bit of yogurt. My mom was kind enough to record the event for us. It was hilarious and not sure she really liked it, though she kept going back for more, I think it was more to play though. She kept doing the tongue thrust reflex (which occurs when the tongue moves forward from the mouth to assist with breast and bottle feeding), so sadly she isn’t quite ready for food yet. At least she got messy and tried it, so we’re happy about the decidion. It was just so funny to see her eating the yogurt and it got everywhere! Thank goodness my mom caught it all.

Most of the day was running errands and let me just say I will NEVER go to Costco on a weekend again. We needed diapers and wipes, along with a few other things, but man was it a nightmare. It’s terrible when you walk out of a store irritated and angry, just sayin’. Valeria fell asleep in the car so we drove a bit to make sure she was in a deep sleep before heading home.

I got groceries put away, fed my sourdough starter (post to come about that!), some laundry done and Valeria bathed and currently being put to bed by daddy. All in all a pretty good day…minus the snow of course.

Well that’s all for now, I hope the weather whenever you are was better than ours!

Ciao!!
